Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)
The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs and offers FREE English language tuition to eligible migrants and refugees living in Australia. Wingate Avenue Community Centre is a member of Melbourne AMEP, a network of TAFE and Learn Local organisations, led by Melbourne Polytechnic, to deliver the AMEP across Melbourne and Bendigo. AMEP English classes can help you to learn basic English skills to assist you to successfully and confidently participate socially and economically in Australian society. You may be eligible for AMEP if are a migrant or refugee with a permanent visa.
You may also be eligible to join the program if you are:
- a migrant with an eligible temporary visa
- an Australian citizen who previously held a permanent visa
- a young person between 15 and 17 years of age.
Why do the AMEP program?
In an AMEP class you will learn English language skills and information about Australian society. You can meet other people learning English. Classes are taught by qualified teachers.
